It is time for me to get back around to the Criteria and create a second draft. Your input would be appreciated!

I agree with what you have except that the marking of music for performance. If done properly, that is, in my experience, a performance activity.
I would also suggest that Critical Listening would be important and also address a more general music education. In the International Baccalaureate program I ran across a Critical Listening form that is used to train the student how to listen to music. (its called MeMeHaMeFoStyCo (melody, meter, harmony, meter, form, style and Context) If you are not familiar with this contact me.
But this trains students how to listen. Pick selections that have historic implications or that apply directly to the music that you are playing and you have a great exercise. In all cases, the student is listening to music as well as the performance by musicians. The ability to listen to the ensemble as they play music is one of the most important aspects of developing a better ensemble. Some tweaking of the IB exercise to fit your class can not only educate the students to different styles of music, but directly increase their ability to criticize and understand their own music and by hearing better, they will play better.
Just a thought that is often overlooked.

I agree…listening is invaluable, as 99% of our students have no prior experience interacting with classical or jazz music in any meaningful, cultural, personal way. Thanks for your input!
